News: Richard Mille RM35-02

Since 2008, independent watch manufacture Richard Mille has been working with world-renowned tennis pro Rafael Nadal to create a unique collection of contemporary timepieces. The watches are crafted specifically for the needs of a sportsman like Nadal, with an emphasis on shock-resistance and lightweight design.

The RM35-02 is inspired by an earlier watch in the Rafael Nadal line, the RM35-01—but unlike its predecessor, it features an automatic movement: the in-house caliber AL1. It’s the first automatic watch in the series, and stays true to the range’s dedication to high performance.

The case comes in two exclusively designed materials, NTPT Carbon and Quartz-TPT Red, both of which contain titanium and carbon fibre elements. In a striking combination of red on a yellow strap, the materials are made to be lightweight and comfortable on the wrist, particularly when undertaking strenuous movement.

Likewise, the movement features a specially designed rotor which takes into account the level of activity of the wearer when winding the watch. The mainspring is wound faster when there is a minimal amount of arm movement, and faster when intense sports activity is undertaken.
